Equity and Inclusion

Equity and Inclusion Commitment

It is the policy of Our Community Birth Center (OCBC) not to discriminate on the basis of disability, race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, language, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran’s status, or any other protected class. This policy applies to all OCBC programs and operations, including but not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all of our board, staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Land Acknowledgement Statement

We meet on the unceded land stolen from the Kalapuya, Siuslaw, Cow Creek Umpqua and Yoncalla peoples. I ask you to join me in acknowledging these communities, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. I ask that we also acknowledge that our culture was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many indigenous peoples, including those on whose land our Birth Center will be located. This acknowledgement is to demonstrate a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism.
